About ShowMyRates

ShowMyRates is an independent comparison service with one job: helping drivers see rates from multiple insurance companies instead of settling for the first number they're shown. You answer a few questions, we match you with insurers and licensed agents quoting in your area, and you decide who — if anyone — you want to talk to.

What we are not

Let's be plain about this: ShowMyRates is not an insurance company, not an agency, and not a financial or insurance advisor. We don't sell policies, underwrite risk, or tell you what coverage to buy. We're a comparison and marketing service — we help you see options from the companies that do those things.

Why we started with Florida car insurance

Florida drivers pay some of the highest premiums in the country — full coverage averages roughly $2,786–$2,953 per year, according to 2026 data from MoneyGeek and Insure.com. At the same time, Florida's Office of Insurance Regulation reported in March 2026 that the state's five largest auto insurance groups — about 78% of the market — indicated an average rate decrease of about 8% for 2026, after seeking an average 7.4% decrease in 2025. Insurers apply those changes at renewal, and each company reprices differently. Drivers who never re-shop tend to keep overpaying out of pure inertia — switching to whichever company now prices your profile lowest usually saves more than waiting for your current insurer's decrease. That gap is exactly why we built this site.

How we stay free

Comparing rates on ShowMyRates costs you nothing. We're compensated by the insurance companies and agencies we work with when we connect them with shoppers, and that compensation can affect where and how partners appear on the site. We explain the whole model on our How We Make Money page.

Our commitment to accuracy

Every specific figure we publish comes from a named source — state regulators like Florida's Office of Insurance Regulation, or published industry research — and we review pages when the data changes. If we get something wrong, we fix it. See our Editorial Policy for how we source and update our content, or contact us to report an error.
